Rehasport and SPR Wisła Płock Join Forces in the Search for Athletic Talent

On May 26–27, June 2–6, and June 9–10, 2025, comprehensive functional assessments were carried out for young athletes, organized by the Rehasport clinic in cooperation with the SPR Wisła Płock handball club. The final stage of the assessments took place at Primary School No. 21 in Płock. The initiative involved experienced Rehasport physiotherapists: Paweł Cisowski, Tomasz Kaczmarek, Krzysztof Strugała, Wojciech Stępień, Jakub Kaszyński, and Krzysztof Szuwara.

The goal of the project is to identify young athletic talents and support their individual development. During the assessments, children underwent a series of tests evaluating motor skills, flexibility, coordination, speed, and postural control. In total, 178 children were examined.

Sport, Medicine, and Science for Future Champions

Modern diagnostics, combining knowledge from medicine, physiotherapy, and sports science, allows for an accurate determination of children's predispositions for various sports disciplines. The tests conducted by Rehasport are not only about physical fitness – they are a tool for shaping the future of Polish sport.

A substitute football player might turn out to be a born sailor, and a javelin thrower from a local sports club may have a shot at a world championship medal with the right guidance. Our goal is to identify children with above-average athletic potential – true diamonds in the rough.

"From the beginning, we believed that our joint efforts with the Rehasport clinic could bring real value – not just for our club, but above all for the children in the region. The results of this collaboration have exceeded our expectations – we have already examined 178 young individuals, giving them a chance for a professional diagnosis of their athletic potential. These aren't just numbers – these are real stories of children who, thanks to this project, can discover their talent and receive the right support."

All of this is being carried out as part of the pilot program "Active Path to Mastery", a joint initiative of the Płock County, Rehasport, and the SPR Wisła Płock handball club. SPR Wisła Płock has long believed that sport is more than competition – it’s a tool for building character, health, and the future. That’s why it’s so important to give young people the impulse to act and create equal opportunities from an early stage. Rehasport provides top-class expertise, equipment, and specialists, while SPR Wisła Płock brings passion, experience, and strong local roots. Together, we are creating something exceptional – a program that actively responds to the crisis of physical activity among children while giving hope for discovering future representatives of Poland.

This is just the beginning. Every child assessed is a potential champion. They just need the right guidance. That’s why we treat this project as the foundation for something greater. We believe that by investing today in the health and development of children, we are building the future of Polish sport," said Artur Stanowski, President of SPR Wisła Płock.

Physical Fitness of Children in Poland – An Urgent Call to Action

Data from IBRiS and the Polish Ombudsman for Children is alarming: 10% of children aged 10–18 do not engage in any physical activity even once a week. One in five children feels chronically tired, and 17% of students require immediate assistance due to poor physical condition. The WHO points out that children in Poland are gaining weight faster than in any other country in Europe.

Supporting physical activity and ensuring equal access to professional sports diagnostics is key to combating this trend. That’s why the Rehasport and SPR Wisła Płock project is both inclusive and educational, promoting a healthy lifestyle and equal opportunities for all children.

"A healthy mind in a healthy body" – says an old and very wise proverb. Once taken for granted, today – in a world full of distractions, especially virtual ones – these words take on even greater meaning. I am pleased and proud of yet another sports initiative by the Płock County and SPR Wisła Płock. 'Active Path to Mastery' is a pioneering project on a national scale, responding to the needs of our times. I wholeheartedly encourage young people to take part and be physically active. I’m certain there are true athletic talents among you! It’s worth discovering them," said Sylwester Ziemkiewicz, Płock County Governor.

The project by Rehasport, SPR Wisła Płock, and the Płock County Office is a tangible effort to improve the physical condition of children in Poland and to professionally support those who may achieve success on the national and international stage. It’s an investment in health, the future, and the dreams of young athletes.
