Rehasport Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary - A Special Milestone for Employees and Friends of the Clinic

It all began with a dream of helping others — an idea that led to the creation of a modern medical facility. Witold Dudziński and Tomasz Piontek, two young doctors from Poznań, inspired by Professor Jacek Kruczyński, began to bring this vision to life. On December 6, 2004, the first patient walked through the doors of Rehasport. Today, the clinic is a well-established name in Poland and internationally. Throughout 2025, Rehasport will celebrate its 20th anniversary, culminating in the Rehasport Summit on December 6.

This story started with just a few rooms in the historic Bajerlein Villa on Różana Street in Poznań’s Wilda district. Today, Rehasport operates five state-of-the-art rehabilitation and orthopedic centers in major cities, owns its own hospital, and manages a network of over one hundred rehabilitation facilities across the country. What began as a local clinic founded by Poznań orthopedic surgeons has evolved into a respected brand in the world of medicine and a key partner of the global healthcare giant Medicover.

All of this has been achieved in just 20 years, driven by passion, dedication, and hard work. The year 2025 marks a time of celebration for Rehasport.

In the 20th century, Poznań was one of the most important medical centers in Poland. It was here that Professor Wiktor Dega established a modern school of orthopedics based on interdisciplinary collaboration. Successful recovery after surgery depends not only on the physician’s knowledge and skills but also on the qualifications of physiotherapists and, increasingly, the support of diagnostic specialists.

Professor Dega recognized this decades ago, and Dr. Witold Dudziński, Dr. Marcin Dzianach, Dr. Przemysław Lubiatowski, Dr. Tomasz Owczarski, Dr. Tomasz Piontek, and Dr. Robert Spławski carried this vision forward into the 21st century — and made it a reality.

Medical expertise combined with exceptional dedication quickly positioned Rehasport as a leading center for treating musculoskeletal disorders.

Initially based in Poznań, the clinic soon expanded to Konin, followed by new centers in Gdańsk (2012), Warsaw (2016), and Wrocław (2024). At the same time, work was underway to establish a nationwide network of Licensed Rehabilitation Centers to support post-operative recovery locally. Today, these centers operate across almost all of Poland, with staff undergoing specialized training at Rehasport. After certification, they provide top-quality care.

From the very beginning, Rehasport has been especially committed to supporting physically active individuals. Athletes recovering from injuries have always found fast and professional care here. Outstanding treatment outcomes, medical expertise, and modern equipment laid the foundation for numerous partnerships with sports associations, clubs, and organizations. Today, Rehasport works closely with national team athletes in tennis, handball, rowing, kayaking, golf, and sailing. It maintains long-term contracts with clubs and has supported Olympians and world champions for nearly two decades. Its staff accompany Polish national teams at successive Olympic Games.

While Olympic involvement has taken Rehasport professionals to the world’s biggest sporting events, football — Poland’s most popular sport — has remained a particular focus. For the past 20 years, Rehasport has served as the official medical partner of KKS Lech Poznań. The clinic also maintains close ties with smaller local clubs, both senior and youth. The Reiss Academy has trained thousands of young footballers, some of whom now play in national leagues. Through cooperation with the Greater Poland Football Association, amateur players have access to free orthopedic and physiotherapy consultations. Additionally, Rehasport specialists have actively participated in the Medical Committee of the Polish Football Association (PZPN).

These efforts did not go unnoticed. With the support of then-PZPN President Zbigniew Boniek, Rehasport became the first clinic in Poland to receive the prestigious FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence certification in 2014. Through this designation, the clinic now collaborates with top hospitals around the globe and develops innovative programs to support football development on all continents.

"We wanted to help athletes as well as ordinary people for whom physical activity may not be a priority. We've been fulfilling that mission for years. Over time, opportunities arose to share our knowledge and experience in new ways — through education. Today, the modern techniques developed at Rehasport are being used in Asia and the Americas. And we're proud of that. Just as we travel the world to learn, others now come to us," says Dr. Witold Dudziński, CEO of Rehasport.

This knowledge-sharing now takes place on multiple levels. Since 2012, the Rehasport Foundation has worked in partnership with the Polish Academy of Sciences. A major milestone was the creation of the Rehasport Academy, which has trained hundreds of physiotherapists and physicians through specialized courses and events. Specialists from all over the world travel to the clinic for training in cutting-edge surgical techniques and more. Likewise, Rehasport professionals attend major international medical congresses in the USA, Japan, South Korea, Argentina, Israel, Greece, and Germany to present their achievements.

The clinic keeps pace with modern advancements, embracing new technologies including artificial intelligence and augmented reality — tools that support surgical planning and assist orthopedic surgeons during procedures. These innovations enhance both safety and hygiene, key priorities for patient care.

All of this has been accomplished in just 20 years — a journey that began with one patient in Poznań.

Thus, 2025 is a year of celebration for Rehasport, culminating in the Rehasport Summit, scheduled for December 6, 2025.
