Medical examinations - sports medicine

Medical examinations in the field of sports medicine (so-called athlete's fitness) are sometimes mandatory for certain sports and even for amateur competitions. And even if they are not compulsory - it is worth checking your health at least twice a year. Indeed, sporting competition around the world requires an athlete to undergo basic tests in order to be fit for sport. All athletes who want to start and continue training in qualified sport, understood as a form of human activity connected with participation in sport competition, organised or conducted in a specific sport discipline by the Polish Sports Association or entities acting under its authority, must be covered by the examination.

Tests should be performed periodically before starting training, but also after an injury or prolonged illness.

Consent to commence or continue sporting activity may be issued by a primary care physician - on the basis of the medical documentation in their possession, results of balance examinations - medical certificates on health condition allowing safe participation in sport competition organized by the Polish Sports Association and certificates on the ability to practice a given sport by children and adolescents as well as by competitors, if the physician does not state that it is necessary for such a certificate to be issued by a specialist in sports medicine or a physician holding a certificate of completion of an introductory course for specialization in sports medicine (e.g. when the physician receives information on the intention to practice competitive sport, (Journal of Laws of 2019, items 395, 396 and 397.v).

At Rehasport we make sure that the certificate of fitness to a given sport is issued by a duly authorised doctor, i.e. specialists in sports medicine and doctors certified by the Polish Society of Sports Medicine to perform sports and medical examinations.
