The AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill at Rehasport!

The AlterG anti-gravity treadmill, which counteracts gravity through a unique differential air pressure technology that minimizes the impact of walking or running, is now available for our patients at Rehasport in Poznań!
AlterG

The AlterG anti-gravity treadmill is designed especially for individuals recovering from injuries or surgeries, as well as for those simply seeking to improve their physique. The anti-gravity mechanism allows for exercise under conditions where body weight is reduced by up to 80%! In addition, the use of NASA-developed differential air pressure technology enables safe and low-impact rehabilitation aimed at restoring a natural gait pattern. The treadmill features a variety of built-in programs that support the patient in regaining full mobility as quickly as possible. It can be used not only for rehabilitation purposes, but also for professional or amateur training, fitness, body sculpting, and fat reduction.

How does the anti-gravity treadmill work?

While standing on the treadmill, the user is enclosed at the waist by a flexible, inflatable ring, and the entire lower body — from feet to waist — is contained in a sealed chamber into which air is pumped. The air compressor inflates the chamber, lifting the body and thereby reducing effective body weight. The level of weight support can be adjusted via a touchscreen interface, with 1% increments. Importantly, the internal pressure of the chamber is up to 10% higher than atmospheric pressure, which creates the sensation of floating — even though the user’s feet remain in contact with the treadmill. This allows for speeds comparable to those achieved by Usain Bolt in his world-class sprinting performances.

Why is the AlterG anti-gravity treadmill so valuable in post-injury rehabilitation?

Because it prevents overloading of muscles and joints while still promoting their proper function. AlterG can also be used in the treatment of neurological disorders, and it may significantly improve physical fitness in seniors.
