Mateusz Kozinoga, Rehasport Clinic’s physiotherapist, received a BSPTS (Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School) certificate. This is the effect of a two-month internship in the capital of Catalonia in one of the best clinics for the treatment of scoliosis.
Mateusz Kozinoga, who is also a doctoral student at the Poznan University of Medical Sciences, spent two months in an internship in Barcelona, organised within the Erasmus programme – I stayed in the Institut Elena Salvá clinic, directed by dr Manuel Rigo, and this is one of the best institutions for the conservative treatment of scoliosis, which mainly takes care of spine problems – says Mateusz Kozinoga.
The aim of the physiotherapist in the course of the internship was to learn the BSPTS therapeutic method during a special course and afterwards to refine it under the eyes of its authors. The course was run in English and was attended by nine physiotherapists from Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. – Thanks to that, I am the only person in Poland who holds the BSPTS certificate – explains Mateusz Kozinoga, who earlier learned other nonsurgical scoliosis treatment methods: EBM (Evidence Based Medicine), FITS, DoboMed and SEAS.
– The internship in Barcelona had an enormous value for me, as I was kindly and warmly welcomed by the team of Institut Elena Salvá and had an opportunity to accompany the doctors and the physiotherapists during the whole process of treatment of patients. I also took part in a prosthetic workshop, in which I had a chance to co-produce the Cheneau-Rigo corrective braces – adds the physiotherapist.
