The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) recognised the long-standing research and scientific achievements of Rehasport Clinic. The clinic is the only institution in Poland which obtained the most important medical certificate of this organisation – the FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence title.
At INEA Stadion in Poznań, in the presence of, among others, the representatives of the Polish Football Association (PZPN) and the City of Poznań, dr Michel D’Hooghe, the chairman of the FIFA Medical Committee, officially handed the certificate to dr Witold Dudziński, the Chairman of Rehasport Clinic’s Executive Board.
Dr Michel D’Hooghe stressed that “Rehasport Clinic is the only medical centre in Poland, which met the criteria of FIFA and is positioned among the world’s elite of sports medicine clinics. We are pleased that we can recommend this place to footballers, as a professional team of doctors and physiotherapists will take a comprehensive care of their fitness and health”.
Zbigniew Boniek, the President of PZPN, emphasised that “this is wonderful news for our sport and Polish medicine. We are glad that Rehasport Clinic, an institution so devoted to the treatment of Polish football players, was honoured in this way. Still, wishing Rehasport all the success, I hope for the fantastic health and successes of the Polish players…”.
Jacek Jaśkowiak, the President of Poznań, pointed out that this is also very good news for the City and its citizens. „Being awarded with the FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence title confirms that the Rehasport Clinic company provides the highest, world level medical services – he was saying.
Dr Dudziński added that thanks to the involvement of Rehasport Clinic’s team, it was possible to fulfil the rigorous conditions of FIFA and go through a long process of the application’s preparation. The clinic had to demonstrate, i.a., its clinical experience, medical care over football clubs, the introduction of prophylactic programmes, as well as that it conducts research projects and educates young scientific staff. What was also important was the positive opinion of PZPN, without the support of which the application could not have been submitted.
Thanks to the cooperation with FIFA, a team of doctors takes part in the creation of scientific models and indicates the directions for the development of the world’s sports medicine. The experts, collaborating for years with, among others, the team of Lech Poznań, have access to the latest studies and technology and are in regular contact with other institutions, e.g. the medical staff of FC Barcelona.
Rehasport is a specialised network of orthopaedic and rehabilitation clinics, involved in the development of novel methods of treatment, such as the treatment of meniscus disorders, shoulder injuries and scoliosis. The doctors took care of, i.a., the members of the Polish crews at the Olympic Games in Beijing, London and Sochi. They are also members of the Polish Football Association’s Medical Committee. The list of our patients contains such names as, i.a., Robert Lewandowski, as well as Kamil Grosicki, Miroslav Radović, Rafał Murawski and Jakub Kosecki, who underwent operations in the clinic.
