Rehabilitation after knee joint endoprosthetics

Rehabilitation program after knee joint endoprosthetics

Basing on our long-term experience and cooperation with Polish top sportspersons, we have developed an advanced rehabilitation program that follows knee joint endoprosthetics. Thanks to the program, it will be possible to regain full capabilities safely and fast. You must know that a surgery is just the first step forward, but it is the rehabilitation and your commitment that determine the final success. Rehabilitation lasts 24 weeks. Remember that this period may change and is always adapted to your progress by the doctor and physiotherapist.

Rehabilitation after knee joint endoprosthetics

Your first post-surgery rehabilitation will take place in Rehasport Clinic 14 days after the treatment, shortly after the medical checkup at the doctor’s. The first weeks of intensive rehabilitation will be devoted to reduction of pain and swelling, regaining full range of movement, as well as rebuilding muscle strength. Initially, you will walk on two crutches – this period will last from four to six weeks. After about four weeks you will be able to drive a car. To complete the first stage of the rehabilitation, you must undergo the Functional Biomechanical Assessment which is performed during the sixteenth week after the surgery. The results of the assessment will determine whether dynamic exercises are to be included in your rehabilitation program. Further weeks will reduce the number of meetings with your physiotherapist and you will have a chance to do exercises on your own. At this time we suggest that you visit Rehasport Clinic motor skills trainer on a regular basis. In the 24th week after the surgery we will perform another Functional Biomechanical Assessment. If the results are satisfying, you will be ready to be back to sport with full load and this also means that your rehabilitation program has ended.
