The matches in Spodek in Katowice and Turon Arena in Cracow start the European Men’s Handball Championship on Friday, 15 January. The Polish national team is expected to win the competition, and it is supported by Rehasport Clinic – the official medical partner of the Polish Handball Federation. It will be the twelfth time when top handball players from Europe fight for medals, but first time in Poland. The group stage matches will be held in ERGO Arena in Gdańsk and Sopot, in Tauron Arena in Cracow, in Spodek in Katowice and Hala Stulecia in Wrocław. The Polish national team will play in Cracow in the group A – our rivals will be Serbia, France and Macedonia. On Friday (15 January) Polish players have their first match against Serbia – starting at 8:30pm.
Poland, the third team during world’s last championship, is considered one of main candidates for the title. The Polish players have not managed to win a gold medal yet – in the last ten years our handball players came second or third during world’s cups but in the European Championships the forth position was their best achievement. In 2010 in Austria they were defeated by Iceland in the match for the bronze medal. This time our expectations are higher – the European champion title will guarantee that Polish players will make it to the Olympic tournament in Rio de Janeiro!
Rehasport Clinic is an official medical partner of the Polish Handball Federation. In the last couple of years a dozen Polish players used medical assistance of our specialists, inter alia Sławomir Szmal, Karol Bielecki, Michał Jurecki, Jakub Łucak, Piotr Chrapkowski or Krzysztof Lijewski.
