Vive Tauron Kielce – the best team in Europe! Handball players from Kielce won the final tournament of the Champions League in Cologne, Polish biggest success in this discipline.
May was a special month for Kielce team. At first, Vive Tauron handball players became Polish champions, 11 days later got the Polish Cup, and after another week achieved a victory in the finals of the Champions League. In Cologne Kielce players were not the favorites even though it was the third time in the last five years they had made it to the Final Four. In the semifinal they defeated the main Champions League favorite – Paris Sainte Germain 28:26. In the final match in the 46th minute they were losing against Hungarian MVM Veszper 19:28 but scored nine times in row to finally make a draw 28:28 and… missed a penalty throw that could help them take the lead. Two second before the end of the match Krzysztof Lijewski equalized 29:29 and both teams had to enter the extra time. Vive Tauron and Veszper scored six goals each and had to enter penalty shootout. Polish team was better in the final round.
Vive Tauron Kielce’s success is the biggest achievement of the Polish club ever and proves that the team from Kielce belongs to the group of European leaders. For a couple of years Rehasport Clinic physiotherapists and doctors have been helping Kielce handball players, among others Sławomir Szmal, Michał Jurecki, Krzysztof Lijewski, Karol Bielecki, Piotr Chrapkowski, Paweł Paczkowski, Mariusz Jurkiewicz and recently Grzegorz Tkaczyk. We are happy we could help these Gladiators who on Sunday in Cologne started a new chapter in the history of Polish handball. Congratulations on this amazing achievement and we cannot wait to see more of both Vive Tauron and Polish national team during the upcoming Olympic Games!
